The Second Mellow Tour Final ¨C Nanshan Stop

Beijing, CHINA - On December 17th, the search for the best amateur rider in China was brought to end
at the newly expanded Nokia Nanshan Mellow Park just outside of Beijing. Due to high winds, the contest
was postponed by a day, but that didn¡¯t keep the locals down. The riders were giving it their best for one
last chance to prove themselves worthy the all-inclusive trip the Austrian Alps this spring. The Mellow Tour
was designed to recognize the countries top amateur rider and give them the once in a life time chance to
train over the off season and be coached by top international professionals at a European Summer Camp.

The competition was off to a start at 11am and it took no time at all for the riders to warm up and go off. Tian
Yu was the first to impress the crowd with his switch 180 over the big kicker and Andrew was doing some
crazy Nollie Front Side Tail Slides on the fun box. Yindi made us all proud by hitting the big kicker with
massive amounts of speed and a smooth boardslide over the Fun Box.

The last two stops left Quiksilver rider Andrew Wilde on top, and even though he couldn¡¯t hold on to the
gold today, still came in second and took home the grand prize. The two time champion finished the day
off with the most points and will take it to the Austrian streets. He is known for his insane rail tricks, most
of which have no name and he can¡¯t wait to show Europe what he¡¯s got. There are really no words to
express what he does in the park, except that the judge¡¯s decision was unanimous, he is the best amateur
rider of the Tour.

The top rider of the day was Tian Yu, from America. This kid came out of nowhere and was killing the Nokia Nanshan Mellow Park with a decently sized Back Flip over the big kicker. Cheng Jing Hui placed third after
riding the park for the first time and following up with more Back Flips which seemed to be the trick of the
day. Wanglei did some super nice tricks including¡.yet another Back Flip, but stretching it out super man
style and threw in a 180 at the end! It was insane! He took home the ¡°Rocker of the Day¡± title for the second
time and was awarded some sweet DC gear. We look forward to jamming with him on his new Gibson
guitar.

Li Xian Yi, Jockey Tong and Jiang Wei get honorable mention for taking part in all the stops, and giving us
a good show in the final. Yindi took home the ladies title, with her new teammate Bo Yee coming in second
and Zhang Hong placing third. All the winners took home sick prizes from Nokia, Quiksilver, Dakine, Deeluxe, and Gibson.

So, as the storm settles, we can all look back at the tour and reflect. The Chinese riders are seriously catching on. They will one day make their mark internationally, but for now the top 10 riders will have to settle for their spots in the 5th Red Bull Nanshan Open, where they will ride beside top professionals from all over the world and will compete for 10,000 RMB in cash.

2nd Mellow SnowPark Tour - Qixing Stop

The second stop of the Mellow SnowPark Tour went off last Saturday in the newly opened Nokia Wanlong Mellow Park, in Hebei Province. Temperatures were sub-zero, but spirits were on fire as the riders hit the
park for their chance to win cool prizes like Nokia mobile phones and Quikislver, Dakine and Deeluxe snowboard gear. Picture perfect blue skies were over head and a group of over 30 riders from as far as
Hong Kong made it out for the penultimate stop of the only tour in China in the latest handiwork of the
Mellow Park crew.
A crowd of on-lookers braved the temperatures to check out the best of Chinese amateur snowboarding.
The resort was also hosting the Zhang Jia Kou Ski Festival so the area was packed with most of the nearby town coming out to see ¡°one-boarders¡± for the first time in their lives. There was a very relaxed atmosphere
and everyone was definitely blown away at the talent on hand.
The one and a half hour jam was more like a group friends sessioning rather than a competition as riders consistently one up-ed each other, showing the crowd their finest tricks. The judges had their work cut out
for them as the riders surpassed all expectations once again. So much is up for grabs, for the ultimate
winner of the series will be whisked away to Austria to participate in a summer snowboard camp in the Alps, taught by international professionals! The first stop in Shanghai left Andrew Wilde and Yindi in a good
position for the top slot, and they once again walked away in the top of their divisions.
Hands down, the ripper of the day was Andrew who spun a clean FS 540 and, as always, blew our minds
on the rails with a 270 on over the flat down. His ninja like fluidity in the park never ceases to amaze the
crowd. Tian Yu from America placed second for a Switch 180 and Switch 5. Cui Yang, who took second place
in the first tour stop, came in third for his BS 3 Indy. Also, the special edition Gibson Guitar went to the ¡°rocker
of the day¡± Wang Lei for a huge 720 over the big kicker. We are glad to see him back in the winners circle!
The ladies faced the elements and the icy conditions affected their riding. Yindi was the better of the three
with her straight ¡°roll up the windows¡± air and her fluidity over the rails. She took a bad spill earlier in the day, and we love her for getting back on the horse and showing us what she¡¯s got. Her Roxy Teammate Liu Yan came in second and Sandy from GDR placed third after only taking one nice run.

2nd Mellow SnowPark Tour - Qixing Stop

The riders were unstoppable at the first stop of the Mellow SnowPark Tour last Saturday at Qixing snowdome
in Shanghai. It was the first day back on the board for a lot of the riders, but it didn¡¯t take long to dust off the
cob-webs and demolish the Nokia Qixing Mellow Park.
The park was freshly shaped and the temperature was a mild minus 5 degrees inside the temperature-controlled dome. The crowd was amped to see some of the local talent and fed fresh beats from the sound system. The vibe was chill, but competition was fierce, for this was the first stop of the three part series to
name the ultimate park destroyer and a lot is up for grabs. An all-inclusive trip to the Austrian Alps goes out
to the strongest rider of the series, including a summer camp taught by seasoned pros.
It was all down to the riders who had the best tricks, best line and the ability to ¡®wow¡¯ the crowd. Andrew Wild was the top rider of the day, taking home the top spot for the men and starting the tour off with the most points. He got a hell-yeah from the crowd when he showed of on the boxes with moves like Nosepress BS
180 out and his ¡°butter on¡± everything tricks.
Just as splendid was the top lady of the day Yindi, who won hands down with her huge BS 180 Indys over
the big kicker and her nice Tailpresses on the A-Box.

Also, Zhang Wei, the ¡®Rocker of the Day¡¯ (everybody said so) was awarded his special edition Gibson E-guitar for his one footer over the big kicker.

Mens
1. Andrew Wilde / Quiksilver, Gnu / 12 Points
2. Cui Yang / Flow, DIY Club / 9 Points
3. Zhang Wei /Nitro / 7 Points
4. Xfox / Quiksilver, DC, Gnu / 5 Points
5. Li Xian Yi / Burton / 4 Points
6. Xiao Nan / 3 Points
7. Xiao Wen / 2 Points
8. Jokey Tong / 1 Points

Womens
1. Yin Di / Roxy, Deeluxe / 12 Points
2. Liu Yan / Roxy, DC / 9 Points
3. Yoyo / 7 Points
4. Li Shuang Shuang / 5 Points

A big shout out goes to Nokia, Quiksilver, Dakine, Deeluxe and Gibson for once again supplying the best
prizes in the history of snowboarding in China. Also thanx to Speed Snowboard for hooking us up with the
newest Snowboarding mag. And last but not least, thanks to everyone who came out making the first event
of the year one heck of a good time.
